At this years AAOS’ NOLC, Lattisha Bilbrew, MD was inducted into the AAOS OrthoPac Hall of Fame. Dr. Bilbrew has been the Board of Specialty Societies (BOS) representative. The OrthoPAC Hall of Fame recognizes individuals that are innovating in this space. Dr. Bilbrew is pictured below with AAOS OrthoPac Chairman & JRGOS Vice President Wayne Johnson, MD. Dr. Bilbrew thanked Dr. Johnson for paving the way in advocacy.

Dr. Bilbrew delivered a timely and powerful presentation on the “Future of Research in Orthopaedics” and emphasized the critical role research plays in advancing orthopaedic care and innovation.

Dr. Bilbrew’s remarks carried added urgency in light of the recent $30 million federal funding cut to orthopaedic research, a reduction that threatens to halt progress in addressing musculoskeletal health and developing life-changing treatments.

Dr. Bilbrew’s leadership and perspective underscore the importance of continued advocacy to ensure resources remain available to support the current and next generation of orthopaedic research.

Dr. Bilbrew was elected the BOS Secretary at this year’s NOLC. She reflected on this new role: “Thank you everyone. Thanks to Wayne for also paving the way in advocacy. Hoping to make everyone proud.”

During the 2025 NOLC, Dr. Bilbrew joined Congresswoman Lucy McBath in recognizing leadership and advocacy in medicine. The meeting highlighted their shared commitment to advancing equity, access, and excellence—values that define both public service and the practice of orthopaedics.

first Black woman orthopaedic surgeon partner at one of Georgia’s largest practices.
