Addisu Mesfin, MD is a dedicated Gladden Board Member, Past JRGOS Scientific Committee Chair, and current JRGOS Committee Chair for Travel Fellowships. Dr. Mesfin is a Professor of Orthopaedics, Vice Chair of Research, Chief of Spine Oncology at Medstar Orthopaedic Institute, Georgetown University School of Medicine. Dr. Mesfin has received many awards including the NASS 2024 Henry Farfan Award for an individual who has had outstanding contributions in spine related basic science research.

Gonzalo F. Del Rio Montesinos is a JRGOS Medical Student Member at Universidad Central del Caribe (UCC), Bayamon, PR, USA. Co-Author and Gladden member,Lancelot Benn MD, is a PGY1 at University of Missouri-Kansas City and was Dr. Mesfin’s Research Fellow last year.

Cervical Disc Arthroplasty (CDA) is a motion-preserving alternative to spinal fusion for treating cervical disc degeneration. Despite its benefits, the procedure presents a potential risk to the vertebral artery (VA).This review explores VAI in the context of CDA.
