As many of you know, the Howard University Orthopaedic Residency Program lost it’s accreditation in June 2024, leaving many resident trainees in limbo. Fortunately, our members sprang into action and capitalized on their academic and personal connections to help these budding future Orthopaedic Surgeons. The Gladden Society is pleased to announce the outcome of these efforts. All prior Howard University Orthopaedic residents have found new programs, with the details below:

Orthopaedic Surgery Programs

Case/University Hospitals of Cleveland

Cleveland Clinic Foundation (3 residents taken)

Georgetown

John Hopkins

University of Miami

University of Illinois – Chicago

University of Connecticut

University of Pennsylvania

University of Virginia

Anesthesia Program

For those Gladden Society members that are involved, we implore you to continue to support these residents in their new environments.More importantly, with the loss of Howard’s Orthopaedic residency program, which was so integral in training so many of us and diversifying the field of Orthopaedic Surgery, it is more important now than ever that you partner with us in making sure that Orthopaedic Surgery residency programs remain as diverse as the patients they treat. Please get involved in JRGOS committees; please come to our annual luncheon; we need you!
