NYU Langone’s Department of Orthopedic Surgery is committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive environment by providing medical students the opportunity to gain clinical experience in the field through a summer externship program. The program provides in-depth exposure to academic orthopedic surgery early in a medical student’s education, between the first and second years. The program aims to provide the kind of faculty mentorship that continues throughout medical school and into residency. The program also offers a limited number of travel and housing scholarships for eligible students. While these scholarship opportunities are available to all medical students, preference is given to those who demonstrate financial need, and the program especially encourages female medical students and those who are underrepresented in medicine (URiM) to apply:
