Dr. Burgess writes that she is“originally from Tulsa, Oklahoma. Graduated college from the University of Arkansas, and medical school at Howard University College of Medicine. I am now a PGY-2 at University of Cincinnati. I have been extremely fortunate with mentors like Dr. Crawford, who was actually a mentor to my other mentors Dr. Wayne Johnson and Dr. Jaysson Brooks. It has been great to get experience in the field from someone who helped shape the field.”

Dr. Burgess had the distinct privilege to work with one of her mentors, Dr. Crawford, and publish this case report in JBJS in November 2024 presenting a case of congenitaltibial dysplasia and successful treatment with long-term follow-up. “The Crawford classification, published by one of the authors, describes the spectrum of CPT with anterolateral bowing based on the presence of cortical thickening, thinning of medullary canal, cystic lesions, and if pseudarthrosis is present.” The case report describes selection of the McFarland procedure by the senior authorwho has previous experience using corrective osteotomies and bone grafting, often resulting in nonunion and pseudoarthrosis.

Congratulations Regan K. Burgess, MD!
