JRGOS Annual Luncheon 2026
Keynote Speaker, Mark Fleming, DO

Mark Fleming, DO, Orthopaedic Trauma Surgeon, Navy flyer, and veteran of both Desert Storm and Operation Iraqi Freedom, is a proud member of JRGOS and a retired U.S. Navy Captain. He is also the author of LEARN HOW TO SWIM: Thriving on Merit in a Post-DEI America – A Blueprint for Grit, Mastery, and Legacy in a Shifting Landscape, a survival guide for navigating what some describe as a post-DEI America.

Dr. Fleming is a second-generation surgeon. His father, Arthur W. Fleming, MD—an Army Colonel and pioneering Cardiothoracic Surgeon—was the first president of the Society of Black Academic Surgeons. The elder Dr. Fleming instilled in his son the belief that “true mentorship is rooted in preparing the next generation to serve with excellence and integrity.”

JRGOS is proud to announce that Dr. Mark Fleming will deliver the keynote address at the Annual Awards Luncheon in New Orleans on March 5, 2026.

His remarkable career embodies the grit, mastery, and legacy that continue to inspire the next generation of orthopaedic leaders. Dr. Fleming has shared that he is honored to be part of the Gladden Society, which remains steadfast in its commitment to elevating underrepresented surgeons through mentorship, advocacy, and an unwavering pursuit of equity in healthcare.

We look forward to his powerful message in New Orleans!
